13.08.010 Purpose.
There is hereby enacted a senior citizens utility discount program, the purpose of which is to reduce the monthly amount due under the city’s various rate ordinances for water and sewer service, to low-income senior citizens. [Ord. 210 § 1, 1979].
13.08.020 “Senior citizen” defined.
A “senior citizen” is a person who is 65 years of age on or before the date on which the application for discount is submitted. [Ord. 210 § 2, 1979].
13.08.030 Qualification of senior citizens.
A senior citizen desiring to qualify for a utility discount must submit to the city a written application therefor, on forms to be provided by the city. To qualify for the senior citizens utility discount program:
A. The applicant must be a senior citizen; and
B. The applicant must be a resident of, and the head of the household for which the discount is requested; and
C. The senior citizen shall have an income not to exceed $5,200 from all sources, and, if he is married, then their joint income shall not exceed $7,800 from all sources during the calendar year preceding the date on which the application for discount is submitted. [Ord. 210 § 3, 1979].
13.08.040 Application required.
A senior citizen desiring to receive a utility discount must submit an initial application to the city therefor, on forms provided by the city. In order to maintain continuous qualification for such discount, the senior citizen shall, not later than June 30th of each ensuing year, file an annual application for renewal on forms provided by the city. The city recorder shall determine whether the applicant meets the qualifications and requirements set forth in this chapter. [Ord. 210 § 4, 1979].
13.08.050 Rate for senior citizens.
The rate for senior citizens who have qualified hereunder, for water and sewer service, not including connection fees, reconnection fees and similar charges, for the applicant’s own residence only, shall be those rates which were in effect for water and sewer service in the city of Dundee prior to the enactment of Ordinance No. 207 on May 7, 1979.
