CITY SYMBOLS

11.01 ADOPTION OF SEAL.
The city seal shall contain the words, “The Great Seal of the City of Rio Rancho, New Mexico,” approximately along the outer edges, and the date “1981” on the bottom edge. The seal is an adaptation of a drawing submitted as a result of a public seal design contest. The winning drawing was submitted by Nino Carpenito, a student at Rio Rancho Elementary School. A reproduction shall be recorded in the minutes and this seal is adopted as the official seal of the city.

11.02 ADOPTION OF CITY SLOGAN.
The city slogan shall contain the words, “The City of Vision,” which may be used in conjunction with the city seal or used separately. The city slogan was submitted by Mary Ann Bohl, a resident of the city, who won the “City Slogan Contest,” held under the auspices of the Rio Rancho Chamber of Commerce.

11.03 ADOPTION OF CITY FLAG.
(A) A city flag is hereby adopted to be used on all occasions when the city is officially and publicly represented, with the privilege of use by all residents upon occasions as they may deem fitting and appropriate.
(B) The flag shall contain the city seal symbol in the center of a field of white. The city seal symbol shall be one-half of the length of the flag. The flag shall also contain the city slogan below the city seal symbol. The slogan shall be printed in the color brown. The proportion of the flag shall be width of two-thirds its length.
