There shall be a city manager, appointed by the city council for an indefinite term. (Ord. 1005 § 2, 1983. Code 1962 § 1-5)
2.08.015 Powers and duties – City manager.
The city manager shall be the chief administrative officer of the city. He or she shall have all powers and duties prescribed for him or her by Section 3-2 of the City Charter, by other provisions of the Charter, municipal ordinance or by law. He or she shall have supervision and control, directly or indirectly, over all administrative departments, agencies, officers and employees of the city. (Ord. 1005 § 3, 1983)
2.08.020 Assistant city manager.
The city manager may appoint an assistant city manager who shall act for and exercise the powers of the city manager in his or her absence. The assistant city manager shall be an at-will employee of the city serving at the pleasure of the city manager and may be terminated by the city manager with or without cause, and with no right of appeal. After any city manager’s employment has been terminated, his or her assistant city manager may serve at the pleasure of the city council until a new city manager is appointed, and may be terminated by the city council with or without cause and with no right of appeal. 2.08.025 Powers and duties – Assistant city manager.
The assistant city manager shall be the deputy administrative officer of the city and shall act for and represent the city manager in his or her absence and shall have supervision and control, directly or indirectly, over administrative departments, agencies, officers and employees of the city, as may be designated by the city manager. (Ord. 1005 § 5, 1983)
