12.16.010 Commercial property – Sweeping required – Disposal requirement.
The occupant or tenant or, in the absence of an occupant or tenant, the owner, lessee, or proprietor of any real property used for commercial purposes, in front of which there is a paved sidewalk, shall cause the sidewalk to be swept or otherwise cleaned each day, if this is necessary to maintain the sidewalks free of dirt, paper, litter, or rubbish of any kind. Sweepings from the sidewalk shall not be swept, or otherwise made or allowed to go, into the street or gutter, but shall be caused to be disposed of by the person responsible for the cleanliness of the sidewalks. 12.16.020 Violation – Penalty.
Whoever violates any section of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, if found guilty thereof, shall be fined a sum not to exceed $100.00 or imprisoned for a term not to exceed six months, or both. (Prior code Art. VII Ch. 1).
