10.12.010 Authority.

Sections 22357, 22358, and 22361 of the Vehicle Code authorize local authorities to establish prima facie speed limits on streets and roads under their jurisdiction on the basis of an engineering and traffic survey. (Ord. 24-02 § 1; Ord. 93-4 N.S. § 2, 1993).

10.12.020 Increase of state speed limit on certain streets.

It is determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey that the speed permitted by state law within business and residential districts upon the following streets is less than necessary for safe operation of vehicles thereon by reason of the designation and posting of such streets as through highways and by reason of widely spaced intersections; and it is declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as set forth on both streets or parts of streets designated in this section when signs are erected giving notice thereof:

N Street (West Second to East Second Street), 30 miles per hour.

10.12.030 Decrease of state speed limit on certain streets.

It is determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey that the speed permitted by state law outside of business and residential districts as applicable upon the following streets is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets; and it is declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as set forth on those streets or parts of streets designated in this section when signs are erected giving notice thereof:

Adams Street, 30 miles per hour.

•    

Bayshore Road, 35 miles per hour.

•    

Channel Road/West Channel Road (California Court to Industrial Way), 30 miles per hour.

•    

Columbus Parkway (Rose Drive and city limits), 45 miles per hour.

•    

Columbus Parkway (between Rose Drive and I-780 on-ramp), 35 miles per hour.

•    

East Channel Road, 30 miles per hour.

•    

East E Street (East Second to East Fifth), 30 miles per hour.

•    

East Fifth Street (Hillcrest Avenue and Military East), 30 miles per hour.

•    

Goodyear Road, 40 miles per hour.

•    

Industrial Way, 40 miles per hour.

•    

Lake Herman Road, 45 miles per hour.

•    

Park Road (East Second Street and Industrial Way), 40 miles per hour.

•    

Park Road (Industrial Way and Adams Street), 35 miles per hour.

•    

Reservoir Road, 40 miles per hour.

•    

State Park Road (Columbus Parkway to I-780 on-/off-ramps), 35 miles per hour.

•    

Stone Road, 35 miles per hour.

•    

West Seventh Street (I-780 and Military), 35 miles per hour.

10.12.040 Established speed limits on certain streets.

State law establishes that on multi-lane or divided arterial and collector roadways, the speed limits are to be determined by the local jurisdiction based on an engineering and traffic survey; and it is declared that the safe and reasonable speed on the following streets or parts of streets designated in this section is declared when signs are erected giving notice thereof:

•    

East Second Street (Lake Herman Road to 1,000 feet north of Tennys Drive), 45 miles per hour.

•    

East Second Street (1,000 feet north of Tennys Drive and I-780), 35 miles per hour.

•    

East Second Street (I-780 and Military East), 30 miles per hour.

•    

Military West (I-780/West K Street to West Third Street), 40 miles per hour.

•    

Military (West Third Street to East Second Street), 35 miles per hour.

•    

Rose Drive (Dempsey Drive/Community Park Drive and East Second Street), 35 miles per hour.

•    

Southampton Road (Military West to O’Farrell Drive), 35 miles per hour.

•    

Southampton Road (O’Farrell Drive to I-780 at West Seventh Street), 30 miles per hour.
