10.36.010 Crosswalks – Establishment and maintenance.

A. The traffic engineer shall establish, designate and maintain crosswalks at intersections and other places by appropriate devices, marks, or lines upon the surface of the roadway as follows:

Crosswalks shall be established and maintained at all intersections where the traffic engineer determines that there is a particular hazard to pedestrians crossing the roadway, except that no crosswalks shall be established in any block which is less than 400 feet in length and such crosswalks shall be located as nearly as practicable to the middle of the block.

B. The traffic engineer may place signs indicating no crossing at any given intersection. (Ord. 78-11 N.S. § 1, 1978).

10.36.020 Crosswalks – Use required in business districts.

No pedestrian shall cross a roadway other than by a crosswalk in any business district as defined in the State Vehicle Code. (Ord. 78-11 N.S. § 1, 1978).

10.36.030 Use of nonmotorized vehicles.

It is unlawful for any person upon roller skates, skateboards or riding in or by any means of any coaster, toy vehicle or similar device to go upon:

A. Any public street;

B. Any public sidewalk on either side of First Street between the intersections of First Street and A Street and First Street and Military Street;

C. Any public sidewalk adjacent to property on which is located a school during the hours which the school is open for educational instruction; and

D. Any private sidewalk or private driving surface in front of any stores or buildings used for business purposes. (Ord. 87-2 N.S. § 1, 1987; Ord. 78-11 N.S. § 1, 1978).

10.36.040 Skateboards and rollerblades.

It is unlawful for any person to ride a skateboard or rollerblades in a city park designated and maintained for recreational skateboard and rollerblade use unless that person is wearing a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads. (Ord. 96-8 N.S.).
