Ordinance No. 7583 of the county of Los Angeles entitled “AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A HEALTH CODE,” as amended through June 30, 1976, is adopted as the city health ordinance. (Ord. 529 § 1, 1976: Ord. 294 § 2 (part), 1971: Ord. 211 § 1 (part), 1968; Ord. 125 § 1 (part), 1964)
6.04.020 Copies filed.
Three copies of Ordinance No. 7583 of the county of Los Angeles, as amended through June 30, 1976, are on deposit in the office of the city clerk and shall be at all times maintained by the city clerk for use and examination by the public. 6.04.030 References explained.
(a) Whenever in the ordinances codified herein reference is made to the health officer, it shall be deemed to refer to the health officer of the city of Cerritos or such other public body, officer or official employed, authorized or designated to enforce the health laws and the city health officer.
(b) Whenever in the ordinance codified herein reference is made to the county of Los Angeles or to the unincorporated area of that county, such area shall be deemed to include in its true geographical location the area of the city of Cerritos.
(c) Whenever in the ordinance codified herein reference is made to the board of supervisors, such reference shall be deemed to refer to the city council of Cerritos.
(d) In the event the city contracts with the county of Los Angeles to enforce the provisions of the city health ordinance, all permit fees received by the health officer pursuant to the ordinance shall be retained by the health officer for the benefit of the county as full compensation for the services performed by the health officer in the enforcement of the ordinance provisions. 6.04.035 Amendments.
County Ordinance No. 7583, heretofore adopted as the health code for the city, is amended in the following particulars.
Section 113 thereof is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 113. ARRESTS. The Health Officer and his delegated subordinates pursuant to the provisions of Section 836.5 of the Penal Code may arrest a person without a warrant whenever he has reasonable cause to believe that the person to be arrested has committed a misdemeanor in his presence which is a violation of any statute or ordinance referred to be Section 112 of this ordinance. Upon making such an arrest the Health Officer or his subordinate may release the person arrested pursuant to the provisions of Section 853.6 of the Penal Code the provisions of which are hereby adopted by reference as a part of this section.

6.04.040 Penalty for violation.
Any person violating any of the provisions of Ordinance Nos. 7583, 8588, 8614 or 9375 and convicted thereof shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished according to Section 1.08.020. (Ord. 211 § 3, 1968)
