10.28.010 Through highways enumerated.
Alta Avenue, El Monte Way, and Sierra Way, in this city, shall be through highways as the phrase “through highway” is defined in Section 21355 of the Vehicle Code. (Prior code § 6211)
10.28.020 Stopping at stop signs required.
All vehicles (as the word is defined in the Vehicle Code) shall stop before entering or crossing any of said through highways when there is in a place upon the highway intersecting such through highway at or near the boundary line of such through highway appropriate stop signs complying with the description contained in Section 21355 of the Vehicle Code, and placed by or under the authority of the council, and so located as to be plainly visible at all times to the operator of an approaching vehicle. 10.28.030 Intersection of Alta Avenue and El Monte Way.
At the intersection of Alta Avenue and El Monte Way the former shall be regarded as the through highway and vehicles approaching from El Monte Way shall stop before entering or crossing such intersection. (Prior code § 6213)
10.28.040 Placing and location of stop signs.
Stop signs shall be placed by the superintendent of streets upon East Tulare Street at or near the southerly boundary line of El Monte Way, upon El Monte Way at or near the east and west boundary lines respectively of Alta Avenue, upon College Way at or near the southerly boundary line of Sierra Way, and upon such additional public highways in this city intersecting such through highways respectively as the council may by resolution from time to time direct.

10.28.050 Failure to stop—Infraction.
A. A person who fails to stop any vehicle being driven or operated by him as required by the provisions of this chapter, including any or all other amendments, revisions or supplements, is guilty of an infraction.
B. The penalty for violations of this chapter shall be as set forth in Section 1.16.010 of this code. (Ord. 962 § 7, 1996: Ord. 505 § 2 (part), 1973: prior code § 6215)
