9.20.010 Definitions.

“Gun” means and includes air guns, air rifles, pistols, revolvers and guns of any character fired by explosives. The singular number where used in this chapter includes the plural, and the plural the singular. (Ord. 39 § 1, 1959)

9.20.020 Unlawful to fire weapons within city limits.

It is unlawful for any person to fire any gun within the corporate limits of the city. (Ord. 39 § 2, 1959)

9.20.030 Nuisance declared.

Any gun in the possession of a minor under the age of 16 years, in any place within the corporate limits of the city, except within the home of any such minor, or except when such minor is in the direct charge and under the supervision of the parent or guardian of any such minor, is declared to be a nuisance and to be subject to immediate seizure and confiscation when found in the possession of any minor under the age of 16 years who is not so in charge and under the supervision of any such parent or guardian. 9.20.040 Applicability.

This chapter shall not apply to any regularly established gun or rifle club or shooting gallery, the location of which has previously been approved in writing by the chief of police, nor to any person specially licensed by the city council to destroy pests, nor to officers in the discharge of their official duties. (Ord. 39 § 4, 1959)

9.20.050 Violation – Penalty.

It is unlawful and constitutes an infraction for any person to violate or fail to comply with any provision of this chapter. (Ord. 470, 2003; Ord. 39 § 5, 1959)

9.20.060 Definitions.

A. “Firearm” means any device deemed by the court as a firearm or that falls under the protective order of the court.

B. “Administrative fee” means those fees that the police department incurs as a result of time spent handling, moving, filing, sorting, entering and disposing of any paper, evidence or facsimile thereof. (Ord. 475 § 1, 2003)

9.20.070 Cost recovery for the storage of firearms.

The California Family Code provides that a local law enforcement agency may charge a respondent a fee for storage of any firearm pursuant to Section 6389(a), and that fee shall not exceed the actual cost incurred by the local law enforcement agency for the storage of the firearm. (Ord. 475 § 1, 2003)

9.20.080 Fee schedule for firearms.

A. The cost per each protective order will be $75.00.

B. The cost for each firearm within that protective order will be $5.00 per firearm per month. (Ord. 475 § 1, 2003)
