LIBRARY COMMISSION

8.50.010 Establishment.
There shall be a library commission for the city. The commission shall consist of 7 members. Each city council member shall appoint 1 commission member whose term shall run concurrently with that of the council member so appointing. Such appointments shall be announced at a meeting of the city council and entered into the minutes of that meeting. Two additional members shall be appointed at large by the city council for two-year terms by a majority vote of the city council. (Ord. 1017 § 2 (part), 2004)
8.50.020 Duties.
The library commission shall serve in an advisory capacity to the city manager and city council and shall review and make recommendations on all matters relating to library policies, programs, services, budgets, and the development of facilities to serve the needs of the community. 8.50.030 Eligibility for office.
A person is not eligible to hold office as a library commissioner unless he or she is, at the time of appointment, a resident and registered voter of the city. If, during his or her term of office, a member of the library commission moves his or her residence outside the city limits, or ceases to be a registered voter of the city, such member’s office shall immediately become vacant. 8.50.040 Vacancies in office.
If the office of a member of the library commission appointed by a council member becomes vacant, the appointing council member shall fill a vacancy by appointing a library commission member whose term shall run concurrent with that of the appointing city council member. If the office of an at large member of the library commission appointed by the city council becomes vacant, the council shall fill the vacancy by appointing a library commission member whose term shall run for the remainder of the unexpired at large term. This section shall apply to vacancies resulting from death, resignation, removal, disqualification or any other cause. (Ord. 1017 § 2 (part), 2004)
8.50.050 Removal from office.
The members of the library commission who are appointed by a council member and the at large members of the library commission who are appointed by the city council serve at the pleasure of the city council and may be removed from office at any time by a majority vote of the members of the council. 8.50.060 Compensation and expenses.
Members of the library commission shall receive such compensation for attendance at meetings and reasonable travel expenses as the city council establishes by resolution. (Ord. 1017 § 2 (part), 2004)
8.50.070 Meetings.
Regular meetings of the library commission shall be held at least once each month on a day and time to be determined by the commission at the location posted on the agenda. (Ord. 1017 § 2 (part), 2004)
