ARTICLE XXXIII. TRAILERS AND RECREATIONAL VEHICLES
30.33.10 Statement of intent.
It is the intent of this article to establish regulations that apply to the storage and/or parking of trailers, boats and recreational vehicles in the City of Gilroy. As applied to this article, “storage” and “parking” shall be used interchangeably. (Ord. No. 2013-08, § 2 (Exh. A), 8-5-13)
30.33.20 Storage, all nonresidential zones.

30.33.30 Storage, all residential zones.
(a) In residential zones, recreational vehicles, boats and trailers may be stored only on property on which the vehicle’s owner resides. Storage is permitted outside a structure on a paved or alternative all-weather material driveway as approved by the community development director or designee, provided all of the following conditions exist:
(1) Storage is permitted in the front yard only when space is not available in the rear yard or side yard, or the lot is not on a corner and has no reasonable access to either the side yard or rear yard;
(2) Inside storage is not possible;
(3) The vehicle is stored perpendicularly to the front curb;
(4) No part of the vehicle extends over the public sidewalk or public thoroughfare (right-of-way);
(5) No more than one (1) recreational vehicle, boat or trailer is stored in the front yard of each residential unit;
(6) The vehicle is stored at least three (3) feet from side and rear property lines; and
(7) The vehicle does not block access to or occupy any required parking spaces.
(b) Stored recreational vehicles and trailers shall not be:
(1) Used for dwelling purposes.
(2) Permanently connected to sewer lines, water lines, or electricity. Temporary electrical connections for charging batteries and the use of electricity or propane fuel are permitted only when necessary to prepare a recreational vehicle for immediate use.
(3) Used for storage of goods, materials, or equipment other than those items considered to be part of the unit or essential for its immediate use.
(c) Oversized commercial vehicles or special mobile equipment, as defined by section 15.62, shall not be considered trailers or recreational vehicles for the purposes of this article and shall not be stored on residentially zoned properties.
