Chapter 1. Property Taxes
Sec. 8-1.01 Transfer of Property Tax Assessment and Collection Duties to County.
Pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 2, Part 2, Division 1, Title 5 of the Government Code of the State of California, the assessment and tax collection duties, and the collection of assessments levied for municipal improvements performed by the Treasurer, Assessor and Tax Collector of the City of Hercules, are hereby transferred to the Treasurer, Assessor and Tax Collector of the County for the purpose of assessment and collection of and for ad valorem property taxes that become a lien after July 1, 1965, and the collection of assessments for municipal improvements becoming due and payable on and after July 1, 1965.
Sec. 8-1.02 Drawing of Tax Funds.
Funds so held by the County Treasurer shall be withdrawn therefrom by warrant of the County Auditor payable to an account of the City in a bank as established by the City and as collected and determined by the County.
Sec. 8-1.03 Abolition of Offices of Assessor and Tax Collector.
The offices of Assessor and Tax Collector are hereby abolished as of the first day of July, 1965, and thereafter all duties performed by the Assessor other than the assessing of property and all duties performed by the Tax Collector other than the collection of ad valorem taxes on property that became a lien after July 1, 1965, and the collection of assessments for municipal improvements becoming due and payable on and after July 1, 1965, are hereby transferred to and are to be performed by the City Clerk.
