14.20.010 Required.

All entrances from the public streets of the city to buildings or premises shall be numbered as hereinafter provided:

A. The number of each front entrance shall be placed upon, or immediately above, the door or gate closing the entrance;

B. Each figure of the number shall be at least two inches in height and of corresponding width;

C. The appropriate number of any entrance to any building or premises shall be placed thereon within five days after the receipt by the owner, occupant, lessee, tenant or subtenant of such building of a notice from the city clerk of the number or numbers designated for such building or premises; and all numbers, other than the numbers provided for in this chapter for the respective entrances, shall be removed from every building or premises by the owners, occupants, lessees, tenants or subtenants thereof within five days from the service of the notice designating the appropriate numbers to be placed thereon;

D. It shall be the duty of the city clerk to designate the respective numbers for buildings or premises fronting on streets heretofore laid out or hereafter to be laid out or extended, and he shall provide and have on file in his office for the use of the general public, a map or plan showing the numbering system of the city in accordance with the terms of this chapter. 14.20.020 Designated.

The following shall be the system of numbering all buildings and premises in the city fronting on streets heretofore laid out or hereafter to be laid out or extended:

A. From southerly to northerly the numbers from First Street in the city shall be allotted and used as follows:

1. From the northerly line of First Street or a prolongation thereof in a northerly direction the numbers shall increase from 100 according to the number of blocks to be numbered.

B. From easterly to westerly and westerly to easterly the numbers from Holt Avenue shall be allotted and used as follows:

1. From the easterly line of Holt Avenue in a easterly direction the numbers shall increase from 100 according to the number of blocks to be numbered.

2. From the westerly line of Holt Avenue in a westerly direction the numbers shall increase from 100 according to the number of blocks to be numbered.

C. All those parts of streets running at a right angle or at nearly a right angle to Holt Avenue in the city lying east of Holt Avenue, the name of the street, for the purpose of this chapter, shall be designated by a prefix of east, and all parts of the streets lying west of Holt Avenue in the city, the name of the street, for the purposes of this chapter, shall be designated by a prefix of west. 14.20.030 Odd and even numbers.

The numbers on the northerly and westerly sides of streets shall be odd numbers, and the numbers on the southerly and easterly sides shall be even numbers. (Ord. 126 § 3, 1923).

14.20.040 Block defined.

A “block” within the meaning of this chapter shall be that portion of any street between the cross streets or between a cross street and an abutting street or between two abutting streets. In case of abutting streets the prolonged further line of the abutting street shall be the dividing line of the blocks; and provided, that all blocks exceeding 625 feet in length shall be considered as two blocks. 14.20.050 Numbers per block.

One hundred numbers, or as many thereof as shall be necessary, shall be allowed to each block. (Ord. 126 § 5, 1923).

14.20.060 Frontages allowed.

The following frontage or frontages shall be allowed for each number: Where the frontage or a majority of the frontage of any block is divided into 25-foot lots, there shall be allowed 12.5 feet frontage for each number and in all other blocks there shall be allowed 15 feet frontage to each number.
