LICENSES FOR REVENUE PURPOSES:

4-5.1 License Does Not Authorize Unlawful Business:

No license issued under this section shall be construed as authorizing the conduct of or continuance of any illegal or unlawful business. (Code 1972 §17-15)

4-5.2 Civil Liability For Failure To Obtain License; Criminal Prosecution:

Any person carrying on any business, trade, profession or occupation required by this chapter to be licensed, without having a license from the city to do so, shall be liable in an action in the name of the city in any court of competent jurisdiction for the amount of the license fee and penalties imposed by this section and nothing in this section shall prevent a criminal prosecution of any violation of this chapter. (Code 1972 §11-16)

4-5.3 Conviction For Transacting Business Without A License Does Not Relieve From Liability For Fee:

The conviction and punishment of any person for transacting any business, trade, profession or occupation without a license required by this chapter shall not excuse or exempt the person from the payment of any license due or unpaid at the time of the conviction. (Code 1972 §17-17)
