OPEN SPACE DISTRICT
25-40-1: INTENT AND PURPOSE:
The open space district is established to provide open space areas for parks, maintenance buildings and storage facilities, restrooms, playground equipment, picnic tables and benches, recreation centers, public pools, lakes and other recreational facilities. This zone district applies to public lands which have been acquired in fee ownership by the city and other public agencies, and includes public recreational facilities and passive parks, as well as city facilities. 25-40-2: USES:
A. Appendix A, “Uses By Zoning District”, of this chapter indicates the uses permitted in the OS zone district. Only public parks are permitted as primary uses, although other uses are allowed as accessory, conditionally permitted, and temporary uses, as indicated in appendix A of this chapter.
B. Uses listed as conditionally permitted uses are subject to the review requirements and conditions contained in article 130 of this chapter. Temporary uses and conditions are subject to the review requirements and conditions contained in article 155 of this chapter. Also, certain uses such as churches will be subject to special use standards outlined in article 80 of this chapter. (Ord. #1563, §3)
25-40-3: DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS:
No specific development standards apply to open space facility buildings constructed within public parks. Buildings shall be designed and constructed to reflect the character of the parks in which they are located and to ensure compatibility with development on adjacent properties. (Ord. #1563, §3)
