14.04.010 Adoption by reference.
The city adopts, by reference, the 2019 California Electrical Code based on the 2017 National Electrical Code, including all of the appendices thereto, as set forth in Part 3 of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, as from time to time amended, subject to the revisions and additions set forth in this chapter, which together constitute the rules and regulations for the safeguarding of life and property by regulating the installation, construction, alteration, maintenance, operation and inspection of electrical wires, fixtures, appliances, apparatus and equipment in, on or about buildings or other structures in the city; creating the office of chief electrical inspector and a board of appeal; providing for the issuance of permits; and providing for penalties for the violation thereof, and providing for the issuance of permits and the collection of fees therefor; provided, however, that the amounts of any such fees as set forth in the 2019 California Electrical Code are not adopted, but instead all fees authorized or provided by the California Electrical Code shall be in an amount established by resolution of the city council.
One copy of the California Electrical Code is on file in the office of the city clerk for public use and examination and, from the date on which the ordinance codified in this section takes effect, the provisions of such code, subject to any amendments adopted by the city, shall be controlling in the construction of all buildings and other subjects therein contained within the corporate limits of the city.
