14.20.010 Notification of completion—Inspection.

Upon completion of the work which has been authorized by issuance of any permit, except an annual permit, it shall be the duty of the person, firm or corporation installing the same to notify the chief electrical inspector, who shall inspect the installation within forty-eight hours, exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, of the time the notice is received by the chief electrical inspector or as soon thereafter as practicable. 14.20.020 Certificate of approval—Issuance.

Where the chief electrical inspector finds the installation to be in conformity with the provisions of this title, he shall issue and deliver to the person, firm or corporation making the installation a certificate of approval, authorizing the use of the installation and connection to the source of supply, and shall immediately send written notice of the authorization to the electrical utility furnishing the electrical service. 14.20.030 Notice of defects—Correction.

If upon inspection the installation is not found to be fully in conformity with the provisions of this title, the chief electrical inspector shall at once notify in writing the person, firm or corporation making the installation, which notice shall specify the defects which have been found to exist.

All defects shall be corrected within ten days after inspection and notification, or within other reasonable time as permitted by the chief electrical inspector. (Ord. 1282 § 2 (part), 2003: Ord. 765 § 6 (part), 1969).

14.20.040 Expiration of certificates.

When a certificate of approval is issued authorizing the connection and use of temporary work, the certificate shall be issued to expire at a time to be stated therein and shall be revocable by the chief electrical inspector for cause. (Ord. 1282 § 2 (part), 2003: Ord. 765 § 6 (part), 1969).

14.20.050 Preliminary certificate of approval.

A preliminary certificate of approval may be issued authorizing the connection and use of certain specific portions of an incomplete installation. The certificate shall be revocable at the discretion of the chief electrical inspector. (Ord. 1282 § 2 (part), 2003: Ord. 765 § 6 (part), 1969).

14.20.060 Hidden installation.

When any part of a wiring installation is to be hidden from view by the permanent placement of parts of the building, the person, firm or corporation installing the wiring shall notify the chief electrical inspector and that part of the wiring installation shall not be concealed until it has been inspected and approved by the chief electrical inspector; provided, that on large installations, where the concealment of parts of the wiring proceeds continuously, the person, firm or corporation installing the wiring shall give the chief electrical inspector due notice and inspections shall be made periodically during the progress of the work. 14.20.070 Removal of obstructions.

The chief electrical inspector shall have the power to remove, or require the removal of, any obstruction that prevents proper inspection of any electrical wiring, devices, appliances, apparatus or equipment. (Ord. 1282 § 2 (part), 2003: Ord. 765 § 6 (part), 1969).

14.20.080 Inspection of work done under annual permits.

At least once in each calendar month, the chief electrical inspector shall visit all premises where work has been done under annual permits and shall inspect all electrical wiring, devices, appliances, apparatus and equipment installed under such a permit since the date of his last previous inspection, and shall issue a certificate of approval for such work as is found to be in conformity with the provisions of this title after the fee required by Chapter 14.16 has been paid.
