ONE-WAY STREETS AND ALLEYS

12.52.010 Placement of Appropriate Signs.
Whenever this Code, or any ordinance or resolution of this City designates any one-way street or alley, the City Traffic Engineer shall place and maintain signs giving notice thereof, and no such regulations shall be effective unless such signs are in place. Signs indicating the direction of lawful traffic movement shall be placed at every intersection where movement of traffic in the opposite direction is prohibited. (1949 Code § 3249)
12.52.020 Obedience to One-Way Signs.
When signs are erected on any one-way street or alley giving notice thereof, no person shall drive, or park, any vehicle in a direction contrary thereto. (1949 Code § 3250 amended by Ord. 693; August 24, 1953)
12.52.030 Balboa Island.
The following streets and alleys shall be one-way streets and alleys in the direction indicated:
Alley—west of Marine Ave. from North Speedway to Park Ave. South bound traffic only.
Alley—east of Marine Ave. from Park Ave. to Balboa Ave. South bound traffic only.
Emerald Ave. between South Speedway and North Speedway. North bound traffic only.
Garnet Ave. between South Speedway and North Speedway. South bound traffic only.
Pearl Ave. between South Speedway and North Speedway. North bound traffic only.
Agate Ave. between Park Ave. and North Speedway. South bound traffic only.
Opal Ave. between South Speedway and Collins Ave. North bound traffic only.
Topaz Ave. between South Speedway and Collins Ave. South bound traffic only.
Turquoise Ave. between South Speedway and Park Ave. North bound traffic only.
Ruby Avenue between South Speedway and North Speedway. North bound traffic only.
Diamond Avenue between South Speedway and North Speedway. South bound traffic only.

The following streets and alleys shall be one-way streets and alleys in the direction indicated:
First alley southerly of and parallel to East Coast Highway between Marguerite Avenue and Marigold Avenue. Eastbound traffic only.
Avocado Avenue between Waterfront Drive and Pacific Drive. Northeast bound traffic only.
Dahlia Avenue from Ocean Boulevard to Seaview Avenue. Northbound traffic only.
Fernleaf Avenue from Seaview Avenue to Ocean Boulevard. Southbound traffic only.
Goldenrod Avenue from Ocean Boulevard to Seaview Avenue. Northbound traffic only.
Hazel Drive from East Coast Highway southerly to Poppy Avenue. Southbound traffic only.
Hazel Drive from Poppy Avenue to the alley north of East Coast Highway. Southbound traffic only.

12.52.050 Balboa.
The following streets and alleys shall be one-way streets and alleys:
Main Street from Oceanfront to the most northerly point of Main Street. North bound traffic only.
Bay Avenue from Main Street to A Street. East bound traffic only.
A Street from Bay Avenue to Balboa Boulevard. South bound traffic only.
Bay Avenue from Main Street to Eighth Street. Westerly bound traffic only.
Miramar-Drive from the southerly line of Balboa Boulevard to the westerly line of Channel Road.
Easterly bound traffic only.
The alley lying between Balboa Boulevard on the north and Miramar Drive on the south, from the westerly boundary of I Street to the northerly line of Miramar Drive. Easterly bound traffic only.
Plaza del Norte. Traffic to proceed westerly only for a distance of approximately three hundred (300) feet west of L Street.
Plaza del Sur. Traffic to proceed easterly only for a distance of approximately three hundred (300) feet west of L Street.

The following streets and alleys shall be one-way streets and alleys in the direction indicated:
South side of Balboa Boulevard between McFadden Place and Alvarado Street. East bound traffic only.
North side of Balboa Boulevard between Alvarado Street and McFadden Place. West bound traffic only.
The portion of McFadden Place westerly of the McFadden Parking Lot between Balboa Boulevard and Ocean Front. South bound traffic only.
Ocean Front between McFadden Place and 24th Street. West bound traffic only.
Twenty-first Place between McFadden Place and Ocean Front. Southwest bound traffic only.
Twenty-third Street between Ocean Front and Balboa Boulevard. Northeast bound traffic only.
Thirty-second Street between Balboa Boulevard and Marcus Avenue. Northeast bound traffic only.
Thirty-third Street between Marcus Avenue and Balboa Boulevard. Southeast bound traffic only.
