TRANSIT BUSES

11.42.010 Definitions.
As used in this chapter, the following definitions shall apply:
“Revenue service” means that period of time when the vehicle is in operation for purpose of transportation of passengers, including the time when parked at terminal points.
“Transit bus” means any vehicle designed to carry more than one passenger, transporting the general public in urban, suburban or interurban service. Excluded are intercity passenger stage corporations regulated by the Public Utilities Commission of the state of California or the Interstate Commerce Commission, “charter” operations which are not available for the general public, and vehicles licensed within or without the city as taxicabs. 11.42.011 Unlawful acts.
It is unlawful for any person to commit any of the following acts aboard any transit bus in revenue service within the city:
(a) To smoke or possess any lighted substance;
(b) To possess any open food or beverage container or consume food or a beverage; or
(c) Willfully deposit or discard refuse, litter or paper, except in containers which may be marked and provided for such purpose. [Ord. 865 N.S. § 1, 1975].
