12.48.050 Violation and Penalty.
A. It is unlawful, when authorized signs are in place, to drive, operate or cause or permit to be driven or operated on any highway or bridge, subject to the restrictions set forth in this chapter, any vehicle in violation of the restriction(s) stated on such signs.
B. A violation of any of the restrictions set forth in this chapter is a misdemeanor and not an infraction except in cases of weight violations where the amount of excess weight is less than four thousand five hundred one (4,501) pounds, in which case the violation is an infraction. 12.48.060 Vehicles Exceeding Fourteen Thousand (14,000) Pounds—Operation on Certain Highways Prohibited—Alternate Routes.
It is unlawful to drive, operate or cause or permit to be driven or operated any commercial vehicle exceeding a gross weight of fourteen thousand (14,000) pounds on any of the following highways:
A. Placerita Canyon Road. On Placerita Canyon Road from 12th Street to one thousand six hundred (1,600) feet west of Sierra Highway. These vehicles may use San Fernando Road as an alternate route.
B. Soledad Canyon Road. On Soledad Canyon Road between Sierra Highway and Shadow Pines Boulevard. These vehicles may use the Antelope Valley Freeway, Via Princessa and Sierra Highway as an alternate route.
C. Wiley Canyon Road. On Wiley Canyon Road between Orchard Village Road and Calgrove Boulevard. These vehicles may use Orchard Village Road, Lyons Avenue and Interstate 5 as an alternate route.
D. Sand Canyon Road. On Sand Canyon Road between the Antelope Valley Freeway and Placerita Canyon Road. These vehicles may use the Antelope Valley Freeway and Placerita Canyon Road as an alternate route.
E. Rainbow Glen Drive. On Rainbow Glen Drive between Soledad Canyon Road and Via Princessa. These vehicles may use Whites Canyon Road, between Soledad Canyon Road and Via Princessa, as an alternate route.
F. Via Princessa. On Via Princessa between Rainbow Glen Drive and Whites Canyon Road. These vehicles may use Soledad Canyon Road, between Whites Canyon Road and Rainbow Glen Drive, as an alternate route.
G. Benz Road. On Benz Road between Copper Hill Drive and Bouquet Canyon Road. These vehicles may use Haskell Canyon Road between Copper Hill Drive and Bouquet Canyon Road as an alternate route.
H. Isabella Parkway. On Isabella Parkway between Golden Triangle Road and Via Princessa. These vehicles may use Whites Canyon Road, between Soledad Canyon Road and Via Princessa, as an alternate route.
I. Linda Vista Street. On Linda Vista Street between Sierra Highway and Canvas Street. These vehicles may use Soledad Canyon Road between Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon Road as an alternate route.
J. Deep Creek Drive. On Deep Creek Drive between Soledad Canyon Road and Anne Freda Street. These vehicles may use Sand Canyon Road, Soledad Canyon Road, and Sierra Highway as an alternate route.
K. Galeton Road. On Galeton Road between Soledad Canyon Road and Stillmore Street. These vehicles may use Sierra Highway, Soledad Canyon Road, and Sand Canyon Road as an alternate route.
L. Gailxy Avenue. On Gailxy Avenue between Soledad Canyon Road and Bainbury Street. These vehicles may use Sand Canyon Road, Soledad Canyon Road, and Sierra Highway as an alternate route.
M. Anne Freda Street. On Anne Freda Street between Soledad Canyon Road and Deep Creek Drive. These vehicles may use Sand Canyon Road, Soledad Canyon Road, and Sierra Highway as an alternate route.
N. Kenroy Avenue. On Kenroy Avenue between Soledad Canyon Road and Nearview Drive. These vehicles may use Sand Canyon Road, Soledad Canyon Road, and Sierra Highway as an alternate route.
O. Bridgeport Lane. On Bridgeport Lane between McBean Parkway and Edgewater Lane. These vehicles may use Newhall Ranch Road as an alternate route.
P. Bridgeview Lane. On Bridgeview Lane between Newhall Ranch Road and Windward Lane. These vehicles may use McBean Parkway as an alternate route.
Q. Parkwood Lane. On Parkwood Lane between Newhall Ranch Road and Bridgeport Lane. These vehicles may use McBean Parkway as an alternate route.
R. Whispering Leaves Drive. On Whispering Leaves Drive between Sierra Highway and Sierra Estates Drive. These vehicles may use Via Princessa or Golden Valley Road as an alternate route.
S. Friendly Valley Parkway. On Friendly Valley Parkway between Sierra Highway and Sierra Estates Drive. These vehicles may use Golden Valley Road or Via Princessa as an alternate route.

12.48.070 Authority to Establish Other Highway Weight Limitations.
The Council may by ordinance designate highways in addition to those specifically enumerated in this chapter upon which the operation of certain vehicles is prohibited pursuant to this chapter, in which case the Council shall establish an alternative route and the prohibition shall be effective upon appropriate posting.
