Regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors shall be held on Tuesdays. The Board will set its annual meeting schedule on or before the first meeting of each calendar year. [Ord. 5263 § 3, 2017; Ord. 1500, 1970; Ord. 1071, 1968; Ord. 539, 1957; prior code § 2.10.020].
2.02.020 Time for meetings.
Regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors will commence at 9:00 a.m. [Ord. 5278 § 4, 2018; Ord. 1500, 1970; Ord. 539, 1957; prior code § 2.10.030].
2.02.030 Special meetings.
A special meeting may be held when called and noticed in accordance with the provisions of Section 54956 of the Government Code. Special meetings may be held in such places as may be provided in the call and notice. [Ord. 5278 § 4, 2018; Ord. 1500, 1970; Ord. 539, 1957; prior code § 2.10.050].
2.02.040 Adjournment of meetings.
Meetings of the Board of Supervisors may be adjourned as set forth in the provisions of Government Code Section 54955. An adjourned regular meeting held to consider a single agenda item may be held at such location in the County as may be specified by the Chairperson of the Board. 2.02.050 Training and orientation.
(A) Upon request of a Supervisor-Elect, County general fund moneys may be used prior to the assumption of office by that Supervisor-Elect, for the training and orientation of that Supervisor-Elect, including the payment of course fees, travel and per diem expenses, course materials, and consultant fees.
(B) Such training and orientation programs, and expenses therefor, shall be those the Board deems proper and beneficial to the exercise of supervisorial duties by newly elected Supervisors.
(C) In order to receive training and orientation funds, the Supervisor-Elect shall make a formal request of the Board of Supervisors. [Ord. 5278 § 4, 2018; Ord. 3211 § 1, 1982; prior code § 2.10.070].
2.02.060 Compensation.
(A) The biweekly compensation for members of the Board of Supervisors shall be $5,686.81 effective August 25, 2024.
Beginning January 1, 2022, any increase to the salary of members of the Board of Supervisors shall be linked to salary increases for Superior Court judges. Annually, each June, the Board of Supervisors may adopt an ordinance to increase the salaries of Board members. Any increase shall be in an amount designed to maintain an annual salary no greater than 62 percent of the salary for Superior Court judges as of the date of ordinance adoption. The application of any salary increases shall be prospective and shall take effect on the sixty-first day after the date of final adoption of the ordinance establishing the salary increase.
(B) In addition to the compensation specified in subsection (A) of this section, each member of the Board of Supervisors shall receive all benefits provided to other elected officials of the County. For purposes of this section, “all benefits” includes, but is not limited to, the health care and vision care allowance and the long-term disability and life insurance provided to elected department heads, and all amounts comparable to the amounts paid on behalf of elected department heads which would otherwise be payable as employee contributions with respect to worker’s compensation contributions, unemployment compensation contributions, OASDI contributions, and the employer’s and employee’s contributions to the public retirement system; including the employer’s contributions for service previously excluded together with the interest which would have been credited to those contributions as to any member who has elected such retrospective coverage and who has paid the employee’s contribution for past service together with the interest which would have been credited to those contributions.
(C) In addition to the foregoing, the Chairperson of the Board of Supervisors shall be compensated an additional $100.00 per month.
(D) All payments of compensation to members of the Board of Supervisors shall be payable in biweekly payroll payments. Individual members of the Board of Supervisors may for any period of time waive the right to receive a portion of their salary or donate a portion of their salary to the County in accordance with Resolution No. 216-93 as amended by Resolution No. 487-97.
