ADMINISTRATIVE FEES AND CHARGES

2-84-010 Vital statistics.
A. The fee for searching birth records and providing a certified copy of such certificate shall be seventeen dollars ($17.00) per search.
B. The fee for each additional copy of a birth certificate requested shall be six dollars ($6.00).
C. The fee for searching death and fetal death records and providing a certified copy of such certificate shall be seventeen dollars ($17.00) per search.
D. The fee for each additional copy of a death and fetal death certificate requested shall be six dollars ($6.00). (Ord. 3266, 2012: Ord. 3219, 2008: Ord. 3048, 2000; Ord. 2411 § 1, 1985)
2-84-020 Bad check handling charge.
A. Whenever any city department accepts payment for any item by personal check and such check is returned by the bank for any reason, a handling charge of thirty-seven dollars and fifty cents ($37.50) shall be incurred and applied to a special account maintained by the comptroller for bad checks. The city shall notify the person or entity whose check has not been paid and demand payment therefor, together with the thirty-seven dollar and fifty cent ($37.50) handling fee set forth above. Notice shall be in writing, directed to the last known address of the person whose check has been returned, and provide that the person whose check has been returned shall have ten (10) business days from the date of receipt of the letter to pay the face amount of the check plus the handling fee. Any person found guilty of violating the provisions of this section by a court of competent jurisdiction shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) nor more than fifty dollars ($50.00).
B. Nothing in this section shall be construed as limiting the authority of the water department to impose such additional restrictions as may be authorized under Section 2-44-160 of this code. Nothing in this section shall be construed as preventing the city from undertaking such other collection actions as may be permitted by state law. (Ord. 3218 § 2, 2008; Ord. 2754 §§ 1, 2, 1991)
