5.60.010 Definitions.

A. “Gunshop” means any building, room, enclosure, premises, place, establishment or part of establishment in the village operated and maintained or conducted for the sale or offer for sale at retail any of the following articles: rifles, shotguns, pistols and loaded shot shells or cartridges.

B. “Shooting range” means any building, room, enclosure, premises, place, establishment or part of establishment in the village maintained or conducted for the shooting of rifles, shotguns or pistols, which range charges a fee for the use thereof.

5.60.020 License.

No person shall engage in the business of a gunshop or a shooting range without first having obtained a license therefor.

5.60.030 Application.

A. An application for a gunshop or a shooting range shall be made in conformity with the general requirements of this code relating to application for licenses. The applicant shall also describe the premises to be licensed and state the location of same.

B. The building inspector shall cause an investigation to be made of the premises named and described in the application for a license to conduct a gunshop or a shooting range, for the purpose of determining the fitness and suitability of the premises for such business from a sanitary standpoint and determining whether or not the premises comply with all the provisions of this code and laws of the state regulating health, safety and sanitation so as to safeguard properly the lives and health of the employees engaged therein. The fire chief or an inspector of the fire department shall investigate the premises to determine whether the fire regulations prescribed by village ordinances or state law applicable thereto have been complied with.

5.60.040 Fees.

The annual license fee for a gunshop shall be six hundred sixty dollars per year. The annual license fee for a shooting range shall be five hundred fifty dollars (up to and including ten stalls, with an additional fee of fifty dollars per stall over ten stalls).
