HOSPITALS

5.66.060 Location of contagious disease institutions.
5.66.010 Hospital defined.
“Hospital” means any institution or place used for the harboring or the reception, care and treatment (including treatments known as rest cure, physical culture, hydropathic massage and all other forms of drugless treatment) of two or more persons suffering from or afflicted with any mental or physical disease, ailment, sickness, bodily injury, alcohol or drug addiction; or any institution or place for the reception and care, temporary or continuous, of one or more women during pregnancy while waiting confinement, during confinement or for one month or less after confinement, while recovering therefrom.
5.66.020 License required.
It is unlawful for any person, firm, association or corporation to build, construct, open, conduct, manage or maintain any hospital within the corporate limits of the municipality without first obtaining a license therefor from the president and board of trustees.
5.66.030 Fee.
The annual fee for a license issued under this chapter shall be one hundred dollars. (Ord. 2002-07 § 33, 2002; Ord. 89-5 § 30, 1989; Ord. 84-5 § 29, 1984)
5.66.040 Application.
Any person, firm, association or corporation desiring such license shall make written application to the president and board of trustees, in which application shall be stated the location or proposed location of the hospital; the purpose for which it is or is intended to be built, opened, conducted or maintained; the accommodations or proposed accommodations for the inmates thereof, the nature and kind of treatment given or proposed to be given therein; the name and address of the chief physician, surgeon or attending chief physician or surgeon; or board of physicians or surgeons; and the owners or proposed owners thereof.
5.66.050 Building compliance.
The building or buildings used or to be used as a hospital shall in all respects comply with all ordinances of the municipality relating thereto.
5.66.060 Location of contagious disease institutions.
It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation or association to build, construct, maintain, operate, conduct or manage any hospital, sanitarium, pesthouse or any other institution, building or place for the reception, care and treatment of any person or persons known to be afflicted with any disease of a contagious, infectious, tuberculous, epidemic or communicable character whatsoever within a distance of one-half mile of any residence or other building within the corporate limits of the municipality, used in part or as a whole for residence purposes of human habitation, subject also to all the foregoing provisions of this chapter.
5.66.070 Inspection.
Each hospital shall at all reasonable times be open to the inspection of the health officer or the village president or any member of the board of trustees or any person designated by the village president to make such inspection.
