MINIMUM PRIVACY REQUIREMENTS – RENTAL UNITS

15.29.010 Privacy regulations.

It shall be the duty of every person, firm or corporation owning or controlling any rental unit to provide window treatments for any bedroom or bathroom window in a rental unit, sufficient to protect occupants of such rental units from the view or vision of any person within five feet or more of any bedroom or bathroom window of a rental unit. Window treatments through which only a person’s shadow can be seen shall be deemed sufficient under this chapter. Any room in which a person sleeps overnight on a regular basis shall be considered a bedroom under this chapter. (Ord. 2008-25 § 1, 2008)

15.29.020 Notice of complaint.

Written notice of complaint concerning lack of proper window treatments for any bedroom or bathroom window in any rental unit, as provided in this chapter, shall first be given to such person, firm or corporation owning or controlling any rental unit, by either registered mail or personal service before any person, firm or corporation shall be deemed to have violated provisions of this chapter. 15.29.030 Enforcement.

It shall be the duty of the health officer or the chief of police or their duly authorized agents to enforce the provisions of this chapter. (Ord. 2008-25 § 1, 2008)
