ARTICLE XI. PUBLIC DANCES

26-576 License required.

No person shall rent out or otherwise make available any room, place or space for conducting a dance or ball within the limits of the city until the location where the dance is to be held has first been duly licensed for such purpose.

26-577 Exemption.

Any tavern or other place where intoxicating beverages are sold by the glass and dancing is permitted under state license shall be exempt from this article.

26-578 Hours of operation.

No dance shall be conducted in any hall beyond the hour of 2:00 a.m. on any weekday and shall remain closed until 7:00 a.m. the following day.

26-579 Minors regulated; chaperones.

No person shall rent or otherwise make available any public dancehall or room or place for the use of any minors under 18 years of age for dances without having first obtained the consent and agreement in writing from two responsible adults. Such adults shall be responsible for the keeping of good order among the minors attending the dance. Both adults shall be in attendance at the dance at all times.

26-580 Code violations; order to vacate.

Any member of the police department, fire department or authorized inspector shall cause any dancehall to be vacated when he observes any violation of the fire or building code which he believes to present a danger to the health, safety and welfare of the occupants of the building at that time.
