RIGHT OF REFERENDUM

14-19. Petition requesting a vote.

Whenever a petition requesting a vote upon any public issue is signed by ten percent of the qualified registered voters of the township, the township clerk shall place the issue on the ballot for a vote of the entire township and the township board shall be bound by the result of said election.

14-20. Petition form and validity.

The form of said petition shall be prescribed by the township clerk, and the township board shall determine the sufficiency and validity of said petitions.

14-21. Regular or special election.

The township clerk shall place the issue before the public at the next regularly scheduled election or call a special election for the purpose of placing the issue before the electorate.
