NOISE CONTROL

From the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, it is unlawful for any motor vehicle or commercial business to allow the outside amplification of sound by any means. (Ord. 178, 1995: Ord. 70 (part), 1977)
8.16.020 Outside amplification--Permit required.
The governing body of the town may in its discretion allow by a non-fee special permit, the outside amplification of sound, by church, civic, or other types of organizations on an occasional basis. (Ord. 70 (part), 1977)
8.16.030 Engine brakes prohibited.
The use of engine brakes by trucks within the town limits is prohibited, and it is unlawful for trucks to use such devices. As used in this section, "trucks" means motor vehicles with four or more wheels, the principal use of which is for the transportation or storage of goods on public highways on a commercial basis; provided, however, that "trucks" shall not include pickup trucks or standard-size vans. As used in this section, "engine brakes" means jake brakes or other switches or devices operated by the operator of a truck to use the braking system and the compression of the truck’s engine to slow the truck. 8.16.040 Violations--Penalty.
Violation of this chapter is a municipal infraction subject to the provisions of Sections 7-1-4150 through 7-1-4152, MCA. (Ord. 207 §§21, 44, 2000)
