10.15.010 Definition of terms.

Whenever any of the following terms shall be used in this chapter they shall be understood to be used with the following meanings:

“Animals” shall include horses, cows, mules and burros when led, ridden or herded.

“Driver” shall mean every person who drives or is in actual physical control of a vehicle or animal.

“Park” or “parking” shall mean the standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of and while engaged in loading or unloading or permitting a person to enter or leave such vehicle.

“Person” shall mean every natural person, firm, copartnership, association or corporation.

“Street” shall mean all streets, avenues, roads, alleys, lanes, driveways, paths, or places set aside for and used for vehicular traffic or that may be used for vehicular traffic.

“Vehicles” shall be deemed to include all self-propelled or horse-drawn vehicles of every kind and nature capable of being used upon or which are used upon the streets and alleys of the Village of Cimarron, including automobiles, trucks, wagons, drays, tractors, farm and road machinery, and motorcycles. 10.15.020 Parking near fire hydrants.

It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to park such vehicle within 15 feet of any fire hydrant within the Village of Cimarron, New Mexico. [Ord. 66 § 2, 1954].

10.15.030 Following fire apparatus.

It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle, other than one on official business, to follow any fire truck or apparatus traveling in response to a fire alarm, closer than 500 feet. [Ord. 66 § 3, 1954].

10.15.040 Driving over fire hose.

It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to drive a vehicle over or across any unprotected fire hose of the fire department when such hose is laid down on any street, alley, private driveway or in any other place within the Village, without the consent of the fire department official in command. [Ord. 66 § 4, 1954].

10.15.050 Parking near fire.

It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle within one Village block in any direction from the place or location of a fire while the Village fire department is engaged in fighting such fire. [Ord. 66 § 5, 1954].

10.15.060 Entering burning building or interfering with firemen.

It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to enter any burning building or structure or to gather or stand within 100 feet of any burning buildings, or structure on fire while the Village fire department is engaged in fighting such fire, except that regular enrolled members of the Village fire department, Village officials concerned, regular police officers on duty, and the owners and residents of the premises on fire are hereby expressly excepted from the provisions of this chapter; and it shall be unlawful for any person or persons, except regular members of the Village fire department, to in any way tamper with or attempt to adjust or operate any part or item of the Village fire equipment while it is being used in response to a fire alarm or to in any way interfere with the members of the fire department in the performance of their duties while responding to a fire alarm or while they are engaged in fighting a fire. 10.15.070 Penalties.

Any person or persons who shall violate or cause, permit or direct the violation of any of the provisions of this chapter or shall fail, neglect or refuse to comply in this chapter shall be deemed to be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined not less than $1.00 or more than $200.00 or be punished by imprisonment for not more than 30 days, for each offense.
