LAW LIBRARY

2.70.010 Established.
There is hereby established and maintained a Law Library fund in which shall be kept, and from which shall be paid, the Law Library fees contemplated by law to use, acquire, purchase, maintain and/or operate a Law Library at Grants Pass, Josephine County, Oregon. Josephine County shall maintain and operate a law library in accordance with state law for so long as it receives sufficient funding from the state. This law library shall be maintained separately from the jail law library. [Ord. 2024-013 § 1; Res. 1-27-39.]
2.70.020 Policy.
A. County Legal Counsel shall establish and post regular hours that the Law Library is open to the public. Members of the public may use the Josephine County Law Library during those hours that the Law Library is open to the public for the purpose of conducting legal research and using library resources.
B. Those persons duly licensed or certified to provide legal services in the State of Oregon or in any other legal jurisdiction may use the Josephine County Law Library at any time. Access during days and hours outside those listed in subsection (A) of this section may require proof of identification through (1) an Oregon State Bar or other jurisdiction’s identification of attorney status; and (2) a driver’s license with a picture of the licensee-attorney.
C. All persons, whether attorneys or not, are responsible for any misuse, damage, loss, or conversion of materials from the Josephine County Law Library.
D. The County Legal Counsel shall be responsible for the administrative management and supervision of the County Law Library, effective July 1, 2005. [Ord. 2024-013 § 2; Order 2005-054; Order 2003-045; Order 90-24.]
