CITY COUNCILORS
8.01 Council President.
At its first meeting in each odd-numbered year, the Councilors shall elect from among its members a Council President who shall act as Mayor Pro-Tem during the absence or disability of the Mayor and, if a vacancy occurs, shall become Mayor for the remainder of the Mayor’s unexpired term. When the Council President is Mayor Pro-Tem, the Council President shall not be considered a Councilor, shall have the veto and all other powers of the Mayor, provided, however, shall exercise only such powers as cannot reasonably be delayed until the Mayor returns, and, if necessary, the Councilors shall elect a Council President Pro-Tem.
