18.80.010 Sign requirements.

A sign is permitted only as an accessory use to the use of the property on which the sign is located. [Ord. 514 § 10.10, 2001].

18.80.020 Residential zone requirements.

In a residential zone the following regulations shall apply:

(1) No sign shall be illuminated in any manner.

(2) One name plate or home occupation sign shall be allowed and shall not exceed two square feet in area. [Ord. 514 § 10.11, 2001].

18.80.030 Commercial zone requirements.

In a commercial zone the following regulations shall apply:

(1) Signs shall be set back at least 10 feet from any residential zone.

(2) Moving or flashing signs are prohibited.

(3) Total area of all signs shall not exceed one square foot per 100 square feet of the building’s ground floor area except that a minimum of 18 square feet shall be allowed.

(4) No sign shall project above the roof edge of the building containing the business which the sign identifies.

(5) Signs visible from residential properties shall be shielded or directed so as not to constitute a nuisance to residential property owners and shall not interfere with, confuse, or mislead a vehicle operator. [Ord. 514 § 10.12, 2001].

18.80.040 Industrial zone requirements.

In an industrial zone the following regulations shall apply:

(1) Signs shall be set back at least 10 feet from any residential zone.

(2) Moving or flashing signs are prohibited.

(3) Signs visible from residential properties shall be shielded or directed so as not to constitute a nuisance to residential property owners and shall not interfere with, confuse, or mislead a vehicle operator. [Ord. 514 § 10.13, 2001].

18.80.050 Temporary signs.

(1) One sign shall be allowed per lot advertising the property for sale, lease or rent and the sign shall not exceed six square feet in area. A “for sale” sign shall not be allowed to remain on the property after the property is sold.

(2) One sign shall be allowed per subdivision advertising lots or homes for sale. Such sign shall not exceed 50 square feet in area and shall be set back at least 20 feet from the nearest street.

(3) One advertising sign not to exceed eight square feet in area nor advertising for a period exceeding two weeks an event such as a picnic, bazaar, or banquet of a church, service club, fraternal organization, or similar group shall be allowed. 18.80.060 Public or semipublic sign.

On property in public or semipublic use, an identification sign facing each abutting street not to exceed six square feet in area and a bulletin board not over 10 square feet in area shall be allowed. [Ord. 514 § 10.15, 2001].
