Article I. Firearms

9.10.010 Discharge of firearms prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for any person except peace officers in the pursuit of their lawful duties or private citizens acting in legitimate self defense or other legally justified defense to discharge any firearm within the municipal boundaries of Eagle Mountain City. [Ord. 98-04 § 1].

9.10.020 “Firearm” defined.

For the purposes of this article, a “firearm” shall mean a pistol, revolver, shotgun, sawed-off shotgun, rifle, sawed-off rifle, or any device that could be used as a dangerous weapon from which is expelled a projectile by action of an explosive. [Ord. 98-04 § 2].

9.10.030 Discharge allowed at firing ranges.

This article shall not prevent the firing of firearms at any rifle, pistol or shotgun range lawfully designated by the city council of Eagle Mountain. [Ord. 98-04 § 3].

Article II. Crossbows and Bows

9.10.040 Discharge of bows and crossbows prohibited.

A. It shall be unlawful to discharge a crossbow within the corporate limits of Eagle Mountain City except as provided in this article.

B. It shall be unlawful to discharge a bow with a pull weight of more than 10 pounds within the corporate limits of Eagle Mountain City except as provided in this article. [Ord. 99-22 §§ 1, 2].

9.10.050 Discharge allowed at archery ranges.

The discharge of crossbows and bows with a pull weight of more than 10 pounds shall be limited to archery ranges expressly authorized for the practice of archery within Eagle Mountain City. [Ord. 99-22 § 3].

9.10.060 Planning commission review of proposed archery ranges.

The planning commission of Eagle Mountain City shall review all applications for the establishment and operation of archery ranges and may recommend to the city council the approval of a suitable site for an archery range under such conditions and upon compliance with such requirements as may be established for an archery range by the Utah County sheriff’s office and the city planning commission.
