2.58.010 Public Works Director – Appointment – Compensation.

The Public Works Director shall be appointed by the City Manager and shall serve at his pleasure and shall receive such compensation as may be fixed by the City Council from time to time. (Ord. C-534, 2002; Ord. C-144, 1987; Ord. 50, 1961)

2.58.020 Public Works Director – Powers – Duties.

The Public Works Director shall, subject to the direction of the City Council, have direct charge of the water system, to enforce the provisions of Chapter 13.04 AHMC and all rules and regulations of the Water Department as established by the City Council. He shall have authority, in case of accident, to employ such help and procure such materials as are necessary to repair any breaks and repair any damage to the system, and at all other times he may, with the authority of the City Council, employ such laborers or other workmen as are necessary for the construction of new extensions, repair minor leaks, and do such work as is necessary for the extension or preservation of the water system. All bills and claims against the City created by the Water Department shall be audited by the Clerk-Treasurer and approved by the Public Works Director. (Ord. C-488, 2001; Ord.
