Pursuant to RCW 35A.12.090, appointments by the mayor to the positions of chief of police, public works director, and city clerk-finance director (hereinafter the “city department heads”) shall require confirmation by the city council. All appointments to other positions within the city shall be made by the respective city department head following consultation with and approval by the mayor. 2.72.020 Position changes.
Following the initial appointment as an officer or employee of the city, any decision by the mayor to move any officer or employee to a different position within the city shall require confirmation of the city council. (Ord. 775 § 1 (part), 2005)
