2.80.010 Purpose.

The purpose of this chapter is to provide for the care and/or transport of disabled, ill or injured persons in or with ambulances, first aid vehicles or non emergency transport vehicles, and is an exercise of the city’s police power and is specifically authorized by RCW 35.21.766. (Ord. 778 § 1, 1991).

2.80.020 Created – Operation.

The city council creates the emergency services department, hereinafter referred to as “ambulance service,” as a separate utility of the city. The ambulance service shall be operated by the fire department of the city or such other entity as the city council may from time to time designate. The ambulance service shall do all things necessary to provide for the care and/or transportation of injured and ill persons and all in accordance with Washington State protocol and standards now in effect and as they may hereinafter be amended. (Ord. 778 § 2, 1991).

2.80.030 Contracts with other entities.

The city council may also from time to time contract with other entities for all or any portion of the functions and duties of the ambulance service. (Ord. 778 § 3, 1991).
