7.24.010 Animals to be quarantined.
A domestic animal of a species which may transmit disease through its bite and which bites and breaks the skin of any person shall be impounded by the animal shelter and quarantined for ten days to determine if the animal is infected with a disease. During the quarantine the animal shall not have contact or access to any person or any other animal other than the owner or keeper of the animal or animal shelter employees. 7.24.020 Place of quarantine.
The place of quarantine shall be established by the animal shelter. After a hearing by the director of the shelter or designee and after taking testimony from interested parties, the animal shelter may, in its discretion, allow the owner or keeper of the animal to maintain the quarantine. Any boarding fee incurred during the quarantine shall be paid by the owner or keeper of the animal. (Ord. 2151 § 1 (part), 2005: Ord. 1683 § 10 (part), 1989).
