15.13.070 Developer/homeowner responsibility—Educational materials.

(1)    It shall be the responsibility of the developer, the builder and owner to comply with the provisions of this chapter. Upon occupancy, it shall be the responsibility of the property owner to ensure the continued compliance with the provisions of this chapter.

(2)    The fire marshal will make available pamphlets to builders and homeowners, respectively, generally summarizing these code provisions as they regulate construction and explaining what actions are needed by homeowners to maintain their homes to comply with this code.

(3)    Property owners shall have the right to make alterations on their property, including, but not limited to, removing or trimming trees, shrubs or other fixtures to allow ease of access for emergency services response as well as mitigating hazards that may result in loss of life or property, including, but not limited to, fire breaks. This section does not supersede any code language restricting alterations on personal property (e.g., white oak, wetlands, etc.). (Sec. 13 of Ord. 1993-05-01; amended by Sec. 1 of Ord. 2024-03-06)
