24.17.210 Abandonment.

Persons permanently abandoning a septic tank, seepage pit, cesspool, or other sewage container from service shall:

(1)    Have the septage removed by a certified pumper;

(2)    Remove or destroy the lid;

(3)    Puncture the bottom of the container to prevent water accumulation;

(4)    Fill the void with soil, sand or gravel; and

(5)    Submit in writing to CCPH a notification of abandonment with a written description of the actions taken to legally abandon the system with pumper receipt attached. (Sec. 22 of Ord. 2007-10-01; amended by Sec. 18 of Ord. 2021-11-05)
