10.60.010 Discrimination prohibited.
All persons, regardless of age, sex, race, color, creed, marital status, national origin, religion, handicap, or beliefs are entitled to decent and safe housing. It is illegal to discriminate against persons based on these criteria in the renting or selling of dwelling units. [Ord. 987 Art. I, 1985.]
10.60.020 Filing of complaint – Investigation.
Any person who believes they have been discriminated against in the renting or selling of a dwelling unit may file a complaint with the city fair housing officer. The fair housing officer shall conduct an investigation into the matter and advise the person making the complaint of his findings. If the fair housing officer determines that discrimination has occurred, the officer shall assist the complainant in appropriate action to remove the discrimination. [Ord. 987 Art. II, 1985.]
10.60.030 Fair housing officer – Appointed.
The city clerk is appointed to act as the fair housing officer for the purposes of this chapter. [Ord. 987 Art. III, 1985.]
10.60.040 Violation – Penalty.
Violation of the terms of this chapter shall be a misdemeanor and shall be punishable by a fine of not to exceed $300.00. Each day a violation exists shall constitute a separate and distinct crime. [Ord. 987 Art. IV, 1985.]
