FENCING SIDEWALKS DURING CONSTRUCTION

15.12.010 Requirement.
Every person engaged in the construction, alteration or repair of any building within the corporate limits of the city, whether as owner, agent, contractor or otherwise, shall fence off and close to public use all sidewalks adjacent to the said building during the full period of such construction, alteration or repair. (Prior code § 2.28.010).
15.12.020 Removal of sidewalk.
Every person who removes any portion or the whole of any sidewalk within the corporate limits of the city, for the purpose of better facilitating the construction, alteration or repair of any building adjacent thereto, shall fence off and close to public travel the space formerly occupied by the sidewalk during the full period of such construction, alteration or repair, and, upon the completion thereof, shall replace the sidewalk so removed and leave the same in as good condition as it was prior to its removal. 15.12.030 Removing of fences.
Immediately upon the completion of such construction, alteration or repair, such person or persons shall remove the fences and open the sidewalks to public use and travel. (Prior code § 2.28.030).
15.12.040 Traveling on fenced sidewalk prohibited.
It is unlawful for any person or persons to travel on, over or across any sidewalk so fenced and closed as provided in this chapter at any time during the construction, alternation or repair of any building adjacent thereto, or travel on, over or across any space adjacent to such building in course of construction, alteration or repair, from which a sidewalk has been removed for the purpose of better facilitating such improvement.
