17.80.010 Requirement.
Clear vision area shall be an area maintained at the corners of street intersections or driveways which has no obstruction barriers to vision from 48 inches to 96 inches above the curb for 30 feet from the corner, to allow approaching vehicles to see each other. Fence materials may include board, metal, wood, wood picket, wood rail, masonry, stone, block, chain link, and concrete or any other material commonly used for such purposes.
All hedges or natural vegetation used as a landscape barrier along the perimeter of any property shall adhere to the same standards as a fence as set forth in this chapter. (Ord. 1164 § 1, 2021; Ord. 1017 § 1, 2008).

In the case of which there is no sidewalk, the city may assist the homeowner in locating the city right-of-way when obtaining the building permit for the fence; however, this location does not replace the actual property line established by a legal survey and the homeowner is responsible for the fence relocation should it be found at a later date to be in the city’s right-of-way. (Ord. 1164 § 1, 2021; Ord. 1017 § 1, 2008).

(a) Existing fences do not require a building permit.
(b) Construction of a new fence or wall as described herein requires a building permit. See the Davenport fee schedule. (Ord. 1017 § 1, 2008).
