18.46.010 Description and purpose.
The cemetery (CEM) zone is intended as a zone to address the unique requirements of cemetery uses in a manner conducive to the public health, safety, and general welfare, and in accordance with the comprehensive plan of the city. (Ord. 722 § 101, 1998)
18.46.020 General provisions.
No person shall bury or inter, or cause to be buried or interred, in the city the body or remains of any human being except in the cemetery (CEM) zone. (Ord. 722 § 101, 1998)
18.46.030 Permitted primary uses.
No building, structure, or land shall be used, and no building, structure, or use in the cemetery (CEM) zone shall be erected, structurally altered, enlarged, or established, except for the following permitted usage:
A. Cemeteries, including grounds, buildings, and structures intended for the interment of human remains, churches, chapels, crematories, mortuaries, mausoleums, columbariums, and sarcophagi. (Ord. 722 § 101, 1998)
18.46.040 Permitted accessory uses.
The following accessory uses, buildings, and structures shall be permitted in the cemetery (CEM) zone:
A. Administrative buildings.
B. Auditoriums.
C. Cemetery maintenance facilities.
D. Dwellings and/or sleeping quarters of persons employed on the premises.
E. Fabrication of caskets and urns for human remains.
F. Florist and plant shops.
G. Garden crypts.
H. Gates, fountains, statuary, and decorative features.
I. Markers, headstones, or monuments.
J. Parking in accordance with Chapter 18.74 DPMC. (Ord. 722 § 101, 1998)
18.46.050 Landscaping and screening.
The perimeter of any cemetery shall be screened from view by adjacent uses by appropriate evergreen landscaping and shrubbery providing a minimum five-foot high sight-obscuring boundary, or by a wall or fence providing a comparable sight-obscuring boundary five feet in height. The principal accessways to a cemetery shall be clearly defined by landscaping or gating techniques. Any space between a public street and a perimeter landscape screen, wall, or fence shall be landscaped and permanently maintained, and such area shall not be used for interment. (Ord. 722 § 101, 1998)
