17.45.060 Initiation of amendment.
17.45.010 Title.
This chapter shall be entitled “Amendments.” [Ord. 1585 § 133, 2013.]
17.45.020 Application.
This chapter shall apply to all amendments to this Title. [Ord. 1585 § 134, 2013.]
17.45.030 Purpose.
The purpose of this chapter is to provide for the process and procedures to amend this Title. [Ord. 1585 § 135, 2013.]
17.45.040 Authority.
The chapter is adopted pursuant to the provisions of chapters 35.63, 35A.63 and 58.17 RCW. [Ord. 1585 § 136, 2013.]
17.45.050 Subdivision code may be amended.
Whenever public necessity, public convenience, and general welfare require, the provisions of this Title may be amended. [Ord. 1585 § 137, 2013.]
17.45.060 Initiation of amendment.
Amendments to this Title may be initiated either:
(1) By adoption of a motion by the City Council directing the City Manager or the City Manager’s designee to initiate an amendment through the Planning, Building and Public Works Department; or
(2) By the Planning, Building and Public Works Department with the approval of the City Manager or the City Manager’s designee. [Ord. 1585 § 138, 2013.]
17.45.070 Notice.
(1) Content. The planning official shall prepare a notice of each proposed amendment to this Title containing the following information:
(a) The section(s) of this Title that would be affected by the proposed amendment;
(b) A summary of the effect of the proposed amendment;
(c) The date, time, and location of the City Council meeting where the proposed amendment will have its first reading.
(2) Distribution. No less than 15 calendar days prior to the date of the City Council meeting where the amendment will have its first reading, the planning official shall distribute or cause to be published this notice as follows:
(a) Posted at the posting places designated in DMMC 1.08.010 (posting places);
(b) Printed at least once in the official newspaper of the City;
(c) Displayed in character form on the City’s cable television access channel for not less than three days;
(d) Mailed to individuals or organizations that have submitted a written request to the Planning, Building and Public Works Director for notice and have paid a fee, set by the City Manager or the City Manager’s designee, to defray the costs of providing notice. [Ord. 1585 § 139, 2013.]
