WATER SUPPLY AND QUALITY

20.48.030 Water supply determination for building permits.
20.48.010 Purpose.
The purpose of this chapter is to ensure that building permits approved by Douglas County have an adequate supply of water and that the water quality is adequate for the intended use. (Ord. TLS 17-06-18B Exh. B (part))
20.48.020 Applicability.
This chapter shall apply to all building permits proposing to use a Group B water system, a shared well or an individual well. This chapter shall not apply to lots or permits:
A. Connected to an approved Group A water system;
B. Proposing to use a water storage or cistern system where the water source is approved by the Chelan-Douglas Health District; or
C. For structures that will not have potable water plumbing. (Ord. TLS 17-06-18B Exh. B (part))
20.48.030 Water supply determination for building permits.
A. Permits proposing to use a new or existing Group B water system shall provide to the Chelan-Douglas Health District:
1. Verification from the water purveyor that the property identified in the permit application has legal access to the water in the system;
2. A water quality test demonstrating that the system meets the minimum acceptable water quality standards in WAC 246-291-170; and
3. Verification that the water supply protection zone (WAC 246-272A-0320) surrounding the well site has been established.
B. Permits proposing to use a shared or individual water system shall provide the Chelan-Douglas Health District the following information:
1. Water Quality.
a. Verification that the water supply protection zone (WAC 246-272A-0320) surrounding the well site has been established.
b. Verification that the water produced by the well has passed a water quality test. If the well fails the water quality test, then the applicant shall:
i. Add a treatment system to raise the water quality to potable standards. The treatment system shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and shall protect the health and safety of the users of the system; and
ii. File a notice with the county auditor describing the treatment system.
2. Water Quantity. The applicant shall submit verification that the water source meets or exceeds the minimum acceptable production level of four hundred gallons per day per domestic connection. (Ord. TLS 17-06-18B Exh. B (part))
