PROMOTIONS

Promotions shall be made upon positive merit of the person promoted as determined by the commission in conformance with rules and regulations adopted by the commission. (Ord. 92-12 § 2 Exh. A, 1992)
3.28.020 Police department promotions.
A. Law enforcement officers must meet either of the following qualifications to be eligible to take the lieutenant’s examinations:
1. Two years of service in the position of sergeant in this or another law enforcement agency, or
2. Four years of service in the position of police officer in this law enforcement agency.
B. Police officers shall serve for one year in grade in this or another law enforcement agency before being eligible to take the sergeant’s examination. (Ord. 92-12 § 2 Exh. A, 1992)
3.28.030 Requirements waived.
The commission may waive minimal requirements for promotional examinations as set forth under this title upon finding that in its opinion it would be beneficial to the police department and city. (Ord. 92-12 § 2 Exh. A, 1992)
