LOADING AREAS

19.16.010 Required.

A. Each off-street loading space shall measure not less than 30 feet by 12 feet and shall have an unobstructed height of 14 feet 6 inches and shall be made permanently available for such purposes and shall be surfaced, improved and maintained as required in EMC 19.14.060(A). Required loading spaces shall be in conformance with subsections B and C of this section.

B. Department stores, freight terminals, hospitals, industrial or manufacturing establishments, retail or wholesale stores or storage warehouses or any similar use which has or intends to have 10,000 square feet or more shall provide truck loading or unloading berths:

C. Auditoriums, sports arenas, hotels, office buildings, restaurants or similar uses which have or intend to have an aggregate gross floor area of 40,000 square feet or more shall provide truck loading or unloading berths:

D. The above required loading spaces shall be located to the rear of the premises or apart from customer parking to facilitate traffic movement and improve the visual appearance. (Ord. 1960 § 3, 1998).

19.16.020 General provisions.

Use of public rights-of-way in loading areas is as follows:

A. Alleys. Use of public alley rights-of-way for loading shall be permitted.

B. Streets. All loading areas constructed after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this section shall be designed so that delivery vehicles do not back into the delivery areas from a public street. (Ord. 1960 § 3, 1998).
