SENIORS AGAINST CRIME UNIT

2.120.010 Established.
There is established a seniors against crime unit to be a volunteer component of the city of Everett Police Department. (Ord. 1711-90 § 1, 1990)
2.120.020 Volunteers appointed.
The volunteer members of the seniors against crime unit shall be appointed by the chief of police with the approval of the city council. As volunteers, the members shall not be entitled to nor subject to any city of Everett employee benefits, civil service requirements, nor coverage provided by the State Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters Retirement System or the Public Employees Retirement System, as presently provided for or as hereafter amended. 2.120.030 Eligibility.
An applicant, to be eligible, must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of a senior against crime unit member as established by the city of Everett Police Department. All applicants must be able to pass a police background investigation as established by the police department. (Ord. 1711-90 § 3, 1990)
2.120.040 Authority.
The seniors against crime unit shall be under the direction and control of the chief of police or designee. The chief of police is authorized to promulgate and enact rules and regulations governing the seniors against crime unit which shall include minimum training standards and qualifications intended to provide a minimum acceptable level of performance.
