BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS1

2.16.010 Created—Members.
A board of park commissioners is created which shall consist of seven members to be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council. (Prior code § 1.88.010)
2.16.020 Functions.
The board of park commissioners shall be an advisory board, functioning in an advisory capacity to the mayor, city council, department of parks and recreation and other city departments in respect to park and recreation matters. (Prior code § 1.88.020)
2.16.030 Terms of members.
The initial appointment of the members, by the mayor, shall be for the following terms: one member for a one-year term; one for a two-year term; one for a three-year term; one for a four-year term; one for a five-year term; and two for a six-year term. Thereafter, the term of office for each commissioner shall be for a six-year term. Terms shall end on the last day of the respective calendar year even though this shortens or extends slightly the initial appointment. (Prior code § 1.88.030)
2.16.040 Subcommittees.
The board of park commissioners is authorized to establish subcommittees for the purpose of assisting the board in fulfilling its responsibility to advise the mayor, city council, department of parks and recreation and other city departments with respect to park and recreation matters. These subcommittees shall be advisory to the board. At least one board member shall be assigned to each subcommittee; however, no more than three board members may be assigned to any one subcommittee. Appointments to any subcommittee shall be by the mayor with council approval. Subcommittees shall not be subject to the provisions of Article V of the Charter. (Ord. 2150-96 § 1, 1996)
