10.14.010 Criminal impersonation.

A person is guilty of criminal impersonation in the second degree if the person:

A.    (1) Claims to be a law enforcement officer or creates an impression that he or she is a law enforcement officer; and (2) under circumstances not amounting to criminal impersonation in the first degree as defined by RCW 9A.60.040, does an act with intent to convey the impression that he or she is acting in an official capacity and a reasonable person would believe the person is a law enforcement officer.

B.    Falsely assumes the identity of a veteran or active duty member of the armed forces of the United States with intent to defraud for the purpose of personal gain or to facilitate any unlawful activity.

C.    Criminal impersonation in the second degree is a gross misdemeanor. (Ord. 2789-04 § 1, 2004: Ord. 1972-93 § 1, 1993; Ord. 1145-85 § 58, 1985)

10.14.020 False certification.

A.    A person is guilty of false certification, if, being an officer authorized to take a proof or acknowledgment of an instrument which by law may be recorded, he knowingly certifies falsely that the execution of such instrument was acknowledged by any party thereto or that the execution thereof was proved.

B.    False certification is a gross misdemeanor. (Ord. 1145-85 § 59, 1985)
